Your Ads Report Says Clicks. Ask It About Booked Jobs.
Last updated: November 6, 2026
Clicks with no leads usually means wrong searches, a page that doesn't ask for the call, or calls nobody tracked. Look at search terms first, then the page, then whether calls and forms are counted.
Book a CallStart with the search terms
Open the search terms report and look at what people actually typed. For example, a Mississauga HVAC company bidding on "furnace" might be paying for "furnace filter size" or "furnace parts near me." Those clicks never become jobs. The reason why is simple: they weren't looking to hire you. Cut the junk terms the same way we walk through on why you're getting junk calls from Google Ads.
Then look at the page
If the searches look right and still nobody calls, the page is next. Can someone see a phone number without scrolling? Is there one clear ask: call, book or request a quote? If the page talks about the company for three screens before asking for anything, people leave. What that means is you paid for the visit and then hid the next step.
Then check if you're even counting leads
A lot of "zero leads" accounts are just untracked. Calls go to the main shop number with no tracking. Forms send email that nobody tags as an ad lead. So the report says clicks and nothing else, even when the phone rang. Count calls and forms that came from the ads, then count how many of those became booked jobs.
What "done" looks like each week
Pick one number to watch: booked jobs from ads, not clicks. If clicks are up and booked jobs are flat, fix search terms and the page before you raise the budget. That's the lens we use in our paid ads work.

FAQ
Is it normal to get Google Ads clicks and zero leads?
It happens a lot, but it isn't something to ignore. Wrong searches, a weak page or missing tracking almost always explain it.
What should I check first when ads get clicks but no leads?
Search terms. If people typed something you don't do, cut those terms before you touch the budget.
Should my landing page show a phone number above the fold?
Yes. Make the call or form ask obvious without scrolling. Hide that and you lose people who were ready.
How do I know if calls from ads are being tracked?
Every ad click that leads to a call or form should show up as a conversion. If the phone rings and the report stays at zero, tracking is off.
Should I pause Google Ads if I'm getting clicks and no leads?
Not before you check search terms, the page and tracking. Pausing hides the problem instead of fixing it.
What number should I watch instead of clicks?
Booked jobs from ads. Clicks are a step. Booked jobs are the result.
