Should My Google Business Profile Link to My Homepage or a Service Page?
Last updated: November 4, 2026
If you have one location, link your homepage, as long as it clearly says what you do and where you work. Google's rule is that the link should go to a website that represents your business location, not a page that redirects somewhere else (Google Business Profile guidelines). If you have more than one location, link each profile to the page for that location.
Book a CallWhat Google says
Google's guidelines say to provide a website that represents your individual business location, and not to use links that redirect or refer people to landing pages other than the actual business's, including social media pages (Google Business Profile guidelines). So the link should go to your own site, and to the page that matches that profile.
One location: usually the homepage
For example, a roofer in Mississauga with one shop and one profile. His homepage says roofing, Mississauga and the cities he serves, and it has his phone number up top. That's the page people expect when they tap Website, so that's the link.
If your homepage is vague, fix the homepage before you change the link. Say what you do, where you do it and how to reach you, right at the top.
More than one location: the location page
If you have a real second location with its own profile, each profile should link to the page for that location, with that address and phone number. Someone tapping Website on your Vaughan profile should land on your Vaughan page, not a page about the whole company.
What about linking to one service page?
Usually no. Your profile covers your whole business at that location, so a single service page only fits if that service is basically all you do. For example, a company that only does garage doors. Build the service pages anyway, and link to them from the homepage, so people and Google can find each one. That's part of how we set up local SEO.

FAQ
Should my Google Business Profile link to my homepage?
For one location, usually yes, as long as the homepage clearly says what you do, where you work and how to reach you.
Can I link my Google Business Profile to my Facebook page?
Google says not to use links that send people to pages other than the actual business's own site, including social media pages. Link your website.
I have two locations. Which page do I link?
Link each profile to the page for that location, with that address and phone number.
Should I link to a single service page?
Usually no. Only if that service is basically all you do. Link service pages from your homepage instead.
What pages does a contractor website need first?
A clear homepage, one page for each main service, a page for the areas you serve, and an easy way to call or book on every page.
Should I add tracking to my Google Business Profile website link?
It helps you see which visits came from your profile. Keep the link going to your own page with no redirects.
Are neighborhood or city pages still worth building for plumbers and electricians?
Only if each page has something real for that area. Copies with the city name swapped don't help.
